About

Why “Stop the Line”

The phrase comes from patient safety. Any member of a care team who sees a hazard is supposed to be able to halt the work until it’s addressed, whatever their rank or title.

Stop the Line applies that principle to journalism about veteran health care. When something puts veterans at risk, it should be named, documented, and fixed. Stories here are built on public records, agency data, and firsthand accounts, and every story links to its sources.

J.C. Roberts

J.C. Roberts is a disabled Army veteran who served as a laboratory technician and later worked for the Veterans Health Administration. She writes as someone who has received VA care and has also worked inside the system.
